"See-Through"
His intentions wink,
transparent as stained glass,
tinted but clear,
and I skip through his sheet,
enjoy the feel of body
morphing at touch of skin,
just as those lies warped,
ebbed & flowed in
slippery copper webs
like those now gluing
his insides together,
a pretty, gory maze.
I wink back and smile
as vital organs shatter &
tinkle on the pavement.
Ah! Wishmaster (1997) is an inspiring sort of film. It is ridiculous, cheesy, and beautiful all at once. The kills are classic camp but clever, and who doesn't love a creative horror movie kill?
Wishmaster's creative kills are plentiful, but the glass security guard is a favorite of mine. It is imaginative and hints at the ultimate gory death without a speck of gore. Andrew Divoff, the Djinn, acts the scene perfectly, and it is easy to believe that he relished every sick moment of shattering someone to death.
Of course, there will likely be more Wishmaster poetry to come. Who can resist a movie that has amazing horror movie cameos like Tony Todd and appearances by Robert Englund (Freddy Kruger?), Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees?), and George 'Buck' Flower (great character actor)? I've seen the movie many many times, and it just never gets old.
